Course abstract

The course of study General Pedagogy contributes to improve students’ understanding of the terms of pedagogy and content, to get acquainted with the basic categories of pedagogy science, general pedagogy links with other branches of pedagogy. Students get acquainted with pedagogy as a science and an art, its relationship to other sciences, also with organization work of education and teaching process. The course of study describes various tendencies of development of pedagogy and educational paradigms in Latvia and Europe personality development process, the characteristics of education system

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge acquisition and understanding of the basic concepts of general pedagogy, its relationship with other branches of pedagogy, goals and objectives, independent learning and self-education, personal development;
skills to analyze, compare and evaluate different definitions of general pedagogy, it’s role in a student's personality development, understands the importance of various pedagogical approaches of learning organization, skills to theoretically evaluate the learning environment, self-education opportunities, ability to use a variety of training and educational resources, including information technology resources preparing presentations;
competence - able to assess the general pedagogy important role in teaching, able to integrate the knowledge gained in Home economics and technology, Information technology and Visual arts lessons; able to speak in front of an audience and do the presentation.
