Course abstract

At the time of study practice, students do the reconnaissance of the forest road and the establishment of surveying grounds with traverse and GP method, do the road topographical surveying in scale 1: 500, using optical theodolites and electronic total station. Students carried out the road track setting in the area, the track picket point setting, curves setting, and the surveying of track profiles. Students practical acquire the methods of surface leveling, get acquainted with single frequency GP receiver and its use for forest surveying works, get acquainted with other surveying methods.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge of geodetic instrument checks and adjustment, types of the geodetic measurements and their implementation, measurement methods and mathematical processing of geodetic measurement.
• Skills to use theoretical knowledge in practice (for situation and terrain surveying by various methods, to evaluate the accuracy of the measurement data, process measurement results and to draw up various kind of plans), to work carefully and accurately, and to work independently as well as in team, design the measurement books, plans, profiles and other documents as required.
• Competence to independently access, select and analyze information which is necessary for the surveying work, and use it to make decisions according to competence, understanding of professional ethics, is able to assess their professional activities on the environment and society. Able to critically evaluate their knowledge and skills and to understand the need for further education, is responsible for their own work.
