Course abstract

Intramural practice. During clinical rotation, students work with veterinarians at teaching hospitals and farms, have access to patients; gain valuable hands-on experience.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledges: about laboratorial tests and diagnostic imaging, most common diseases - etiology, pathogenesis and treatment. Assessment – tests in practice all blocks.
Skills: to do clinical and diagnostic imaging examination, set diagnosis, treatment and recommendations. Assessment – evaluating practical work, signatures in clinical manipulation book.
Competence: select correct diagnostic tests and treatment, herd health evaluation. Assessment – tests in practice all blocks and evaluating practical work.

Course Content(Calendar)

1. Small animal medicine. Four weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
2. Equine medicine. Four weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
3. Large animal medicine. Four weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
4. Pathology. Two weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, case analysis.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Pass all requirements in all clinical rotation practice blocks and defend final work. Received at least 70% records in a Clinical manipulation accounting book.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Clinical case analysis; radiographic and medical reports in small animal block; article and case report analysis in small animal and equine block; necropsy report in a pathology block.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Study course tests and final work are evaluated in accordance with the criteria of the 10 point system scale indicated in the LLU Study Regulations.
To get a final grade of Clinical rotation practice students must pass all tests and individual tasks. Final grade consists of the average mark of all practice rotation blocks.
