Course abstract
Intramural practice. During rotations, students shadow physicians at teaching hospital and farms, have access to patients, and gain valuable hands-on experience.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledges: of laboratorial tests and diagnostic imaging, most common diseases etiology, pathogenesis and treatment. Assessment – tests in practice all blocks.
Skills: to do clinical and diagnostic imaging examinations, set diagnosis, treatment and recommendations. Assessment – evaluating practical work.
Competence: select correct diagnostic tests and treatment, herd health evaluation. Assessment – tests in practice all blocks and evaluating a practical work.
Course Content(Calendar)
1. Small animal internal medicine. Three weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
2. Small animal surgery. Three weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
3. Equine medicine. Three weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
4. Large animal medicine. Three weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
5. Mobile clinic. Three weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, clinical case analysis.
6. Pathological examination. Three weeks. Theoretical lessons, practical works, test, case analysis.
Requirements for awarding credit points
Pass all requirements in all clinical rotation practice blocks.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
During a practice students must start to write a final work (Clinical rotation practice thesis).
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
Study course tests and final work are evaluated in accordance with the criteria indicated in the LLU Study Regulations.
To pass Clinical rotation practice II student must pass all tests and practical tasks in each block.
