Course abstract

During the study course, students will develop their market analysis skills (characterization of competitors, identification of the type of market segment, determination of target audiences, promotion of product in the marketplace), marketing analysis skills (sales channels, defining the price), the process of manufacturing, as well as obtain an in-depth knowledge on the analysis of risk factors and finance planning (planned return, depreciation expenses, income statement, planning the money flow, balance sheets).

During the study course, students will develop their own business plan.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of designing of business plan – the course paper.
2. Independently acquire, select and analyse information and apply it in designing a business plan – the course paper.
3. Explain and present to others the results of their own research results – the presentation and defense of the course paper.
4. Responsible plan the completion of the assignment given – the course paper.

5. Integrate knowledge and skills of various fields for developing a business plan – the course paper, the presentation and defence of the course paper.

Course Content(Calendar)

Full time intramural studies:
1. Choice of a topic for the course paper and the coordination of it with the supervisor.
2. Familiarisation of oneself with the guidelines for writing and formatting a course paper.
3. Review and systematisation of the theoretical literature.
4. Acquisition of necessary data and information.
5. Development of the analytical parts of the course paper.
6. Preparation of a presentation for the defence of the course paper.
7. Defense of the course paper.

Part time extramural studies:

All topics specified for full time studies are accomplished, but the number of contact hours is one half of the number specified in the calendar

Requirements for awarding credit points

Production of the course paper and the public presentation and defense of it, answering questions about the paper and the relevant topic.
Main topic areas for the course paper:

2. Business plan for the establishment of company B.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The student chooses a topic for the course paper, taking into account the professional interests and level of preparedness as well as the availability of literature and data. The topic has to be in line with the curriculum of course. The production and defense of the course paper is prescribed by the Guidelines for Writing And Formatting a Course Paper.
The main part of course paper need to structure in two chapters:
Chapter one is a theoretical discussion of the chosen topic, summarizing the theories of the different authors, performing an analysis, providing a comprehensive insight into the theoretical and practical research.
Chapter two – the author develops ideas and/or business plan for setting up a business, as far as possible justifying their implementation strategy and the necessary measures
Chapter two of the course paper is being developed, based on approved information in the theoretical part. Confirms the authors ability to conduct research, using the acquired knowledge, informative materials and data.
The course paper is defended by means of a PowerPoint presentation that contains the research aim, specific research tasks and main findings made in the course paper as well as conclusions and proposals. The length of the presentation is 7-10 minutes.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The final mark consists of the following pieces of assessment: the course paper, the presentation of it and answers to questions.
