Course abstract

In the course of study, students shall acquire the institutional framework and structure of the business environment, the functions of State and local government in business, the economic mechanism, the legislative base for instruments and the mechanism for the national supervision and control of business. Students understand the differences in setting up different forms of economic activity, the basic conditions for organizing the activities of different companies in the economic sector and the legal framework for the cessation of activity. Students shall acquire the types of transactions required for the pursuit of economic activity, the basic conditions for drawing up contracts and the requirements of communication law. Students also have an understanding of the limits of administrative and criminal responsibility for entrepreneurs, as well as the framework conditions for international cooperation.

5. Legal framework of performers of economic activities is Latvia. (lecture – 1 hour)
6. Registers of the Enterprise Register. (lecture – 1 hour, practical – 2 hours)
7. Establishing, reorganization and liquidation of Performers of economic activities. (lecture – 1 hour)
8. Establishing, reorganization and liquidation of Subjects of Commercial activity, including insolvency proceedings. (lecture – 1 hour, practical – 4 hours)

Requirements for awarding credit points


Test. The Test consist of:
• 55% test in the Moodle system on the theoretical substance acquired in the course of study;
• 10% independent and practical work and presentation thereof on drawing up documents for establishing enterprise
• 10% independent and practical work and presentation thereof on drawing up documents: a cooperation agreement, an application for patenting a trademark and other legal documents
• 20% report and a seminar for analysis of the legal framework regulating the production of goods or service by an enterprise
• 5 % registered attendance.

10% are equal to one point on a 10-point marking scale.

A mark of at least 4 has to be acquired in the practical works, seminar, test must be credited positive.

Test mark is as accumulating mark of all course marks.
