Course abstract

The course gives an insight into the vehicle structure and operating features. The parameters characterizing vehicles and operation of engines and transmission are considered in detail, and constructive peculiarities are compared. The operation of vehicles under different load conditions, its impact on fuel consumption and exhaust gas composition as well as other parameters characterizing engine performance are analysed. In parallel with the vehicle structure and operation, information is provided on the possible engine or other mechanism or system failure. Vehicle fault detection tecniques.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

The knowledge and skills acquired enable one to detect motor vehicle faults.
Test for vehicle defects.
Laboratory works on defective vehicles have been developed.
