Course abstract

The study course acquaints students with textile dyeing technologies: batik, silk screen, linocut and block printing. It provides knowledge about the technological implementation of singular dyeing technologies, the mutual compatibility and decoration of fabric and colour, the usage of different materials and the aspects of the dyeing process. It characterizes tie batik and wax batik, silk screen, linocut and block printing special features, its composite solutions in the context of design. It acquaints with product recycling possibilities. Particular attention is paid to the development of students' creative activity.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge and understanding about textile dyeing technologies: batik: batik, silk screen, linocut and block printing, its theoretical aspects and technological methods, and multiform contemporary use – presentation.
Skills to analyse, compare and evaluate the mutual interaction of textile and dyeing technologies. The ability to choose colours according to the fabric and technology. The ability to make applied artistic work from design to product, to dye textile according to decoration technologies. The ability to use batik types according to the chosen composition and expression means. The ability to evaluate product recycling possibilities – laboratory works.
Competence – ability to make creative, practical and modern works. Ability to make a decision in choice and implementation of textile dyeing technologies. Ability to evaluate one's own and creative work development processes of others -independent creative works.
