The aim of the study course is to get acquainted with the CAM system. Students acquire 3D modelling and project the processing of cutting tool trajectories. Students get acquainted with 3D surface processing, the technological process of the production of components (parts) in the regime of „Surface High Speed”. Students acquire the application specification of digital control working machines in the manufacturing of complicated form parts on CNC machine tool benches, as well as get acquainted with the latest development tendencies in MasterCam.
Knowledge - functions and capabilities of MasterCAM software (1 test).
Skills - to design cutting tool machining trajectories and to plan the workpiece machining sequence in 3D environment, to create programs for machining parts on CNC control machines (5 practical works).
Competence - to analyse the quality of machining technology and evaluate the economy of workload (5 practical works).
1. Introduction to MasterCAM 3D. (1.5h)
2. Development of a component model with conical and inclined surfaces. (1.5h)
3. Component model preparation for Solidworks and import to Mastercam. (1.5h)
4. Choice of a workpiece for milling operations. (1.5h)
5. Workpiece machining using Surface High Speed trajectories. (1.5h)
6. Workpiece machining using 2D Milling trajectories. (1.5h)
7. Workpiece machining using Hole making. (1.5h)
8. Workpiece machining using 3D roughing trajectories: OptiRough, Pocket, Area Roughing. (1.5h)
9. Workpiece machining using 3D smoothing trajectories: Waterline, Scallop, Horizontal Area, Raster. (1.5h)
10. Workpiece machining using 3D smoothing trajectories: Pencil, Spiral, Radial, Blend. (1.5h)
11. Workpiece machining using Multiaxis Toolpath trajectories. (1.5h)
12. Workpiece machining on a CNC lathe. (1.5h)
13. Cylindrical surface machining, drilling, threading. (1.5h)
14. Part processing in two-chucks lathes. (1.5h)
15. Machining using the C axis. (1.5h)
16. Post-processing of trajectories for CNC machine. (1.5h)
1. Successful assessment in tests.
2. Passed practical works during workshops.
3. Evaluation of reports in classes.
Cumulated test with a mark.
Practical work in making of CNC programs using Mastercam.
1. The student gets successful mark in the test if at least 50% of the questions are answered.
2. Practical works are done and defended in time.
