The aim of the study course is to acquire the theory of general (typical) machine elements (part and units), engineering calculations and design, present engineering knowledge for creative machine design work, develop engineering thinking, initiative and creation, to apply the existing ideas and to search for new ones, to modulate using analogues.
Knowledge - know the criteria for workability of machines, machines and parts, selection of materials and design methods, knowledge of the design-related standards (ISO, LVS, DIN) - exam.
Skills - how to choose a technical method to address tasks, use manuals and standards for practical tasks - 1 laboratory work task.
Competence - capable of modulating tasks in machine science, addressing technical tasks and conducting independent studies, is a knowledgeable, informed and capable professional – 5 practical work tasks.
1. Gear drive types (Lecture – 2h)
2. Selection of gear material (Lecture 1h)
3. Calculation of gear train (Lecture – 1h, Practical Work 2h)
4. Calculation of gear (Lecture – 1h, Practical Work 2h)
5. Shaft connections (Lecture – 2h)
6. Calculation of shaft connections (Lecture – 1h, Practical Work 2h)
7. Couplings, clutches, and brakes (Lecture – 2h, Practical Work 2h)
8. Shaft alignment (Lecture – 1h, Lab work 2h)
9. Agriculture machinery liftime calculation (Lecture – 1h)
10. Thread types (Lecture – 2h)
11. Threaded connection calculation (Lecture – 2h, Practical Work 2h)
12. Woodchippers (Lecture – 1h)
13. Hammer mills (Lecture – 1h)
14. Transfer mechanisms (Lecture – 1h)
15. Stone pickers (Lecture – 1h) Exam
Course assessment is formed follows:
• all practical work tasks must be submitted and graded (30%);
• lab task must be submitted and graded (20%);
• exam must be written and successfully graded (50%).
Credit points are assigned if the rate weighted average score is at least grade 4.
Students must independently solve five practical work tasks, as well as perform calculations for the successful execution of laboratory work. Students prepare themselves for the exam on the subject of lectures.
The mark is formed as the weighted mean of the results of practical work tasks, lab task and the exam.
