Course abstract

The aim of the course is to provide advanced knowledge and understanding of IT project management. Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge of IT project management methodologies, technology tools, get acquainted with project resource planning methods, analyse potential risks and will be informed about project control management methods and tools.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

As a result of the course students:
• know the basic principles of IT project management;
• will know the role, duties and responsibilities of the project manager;
• are able to use theoretical and practical knowledge of project management approaches, tools and methods;
• know basic information about about project management cycles, project risks and quality controls;
• are able to use knowledge in project planning, project team roles, its management;
• are able to organize the management of large projects.
• are able to use knowledge in project management in practice.
The evaluation is performed based on the developed practical assignment.

Requirements for awarding credit points

As part of the course, students should successfully prepare group work, performance of which involves active participation by all members of the group.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Within the course, students must perform practical group work. The practical work execution will be started on the practical work classes and must be completed independently and submitted to e-studies within a certain period of time.
The tasks of the independent work will be related to the practical application of the material acquired in lectures on aspects of project management.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The practical assignment is evaluated with a score (max 10 points).
The final course is test with the mark.
The final course mark consists of: participation in lectures (30% of the final mark) and practical work score (70% of the final mark).
