Course abstract

Water supply & sewerage engineering networks are with primary importance for each building where people are living, remain of any longer time or make economic activities. In course student should get knowledge about history and development of water supply and sewerage systems, content of these modern systems, problems of sewage utilization and solving of them as well, constructions of devices and working principles of them, required project documentation for realization

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - familiar with theoretical issues related to water supply and sewerage systems. Skills - are able to make the selection of water supply and sewerage system elements. Competence - can calculate, evaluate the consequences of possible incorrect operation of systems, is able to plan the sequence of system construction works, safety, perform quality control. Exam.

Course Content(Calendar)

1 Elements of sewerage systems, functions of them.(1h lecture)
2 Calculation of sewage flow(1h lecture, 2h practical)
3 Hydraulic calculations of sewerage network(1h lecture, 2h practical)
4 Pumping of sewage flows(1h lecture)
5 Mechanical sewage purification facilities(1h lecture)
6 Biological sewage purification facilities(1h lecture)
7 Rainwater sewerage systems, purification of them (1h lecture)
8 Required project documentations of water supply and sewerage networks(1 h lecture, 4 h laboratory works)

Requirements for awarding credit points

Student should obtain successful rating in exam.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Student should acquire sufficient knowledge using presentations given in lectures and study of additional professional literature.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Attendance of lectures no less than 60%, successful rating in examination – no less than 3 points in 10 point system, answering the questions mentioned in the ticket one by one from each part of the course.
