Course abstract

Students acquire knowledge about the nature of entrepreneurship, the business environment, small and medium businesses and the forms of business, as well as the role of capital and investment in entrepreneurship. They build up practical skills for starting up a business and planning the operation of the enterprise.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge of planning the operation of an enterprise, of the purposes and functions of a business plan, the sequence of designing the business plan and the composition of it and the techniques applied. Students get an understanding of planning the enterprise’s production programme and sales revenues and of determining its competitiveness level.
• Skills – students can employ planning techniques to design a business plan, define the enterprise’s goals, determine the labour and material resources necessary for the enterprise, design a marketing plan and calculate revenues and costs for the enterprise. They can also make profit or loss and cash flow calculations.
• Competence – students acquire knowledge and skills to identify the most effective and available compromise between an enterprise’s wishes and its practical possibilities when designing a business plan.
