Course abstract
Study course is design to provide students with knowledges and practical skills of veterinary radiology, interpretative different area radiographs and write report.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledges: students expand current knowledge of a specific area of interests related to different breed animal radiographs. Assessment – three tests.
Skills: perform radiographic examination to different breed animals. Assessment – at practical works.
Competence: to analyze radiographs, write radiology reports. Assessment – three tests and at practical works.
Course Content(Calendar)
1. Thoracic imaging - indications, normal anatomy, views, position. Interpretation. Esophagus, trachea. 2h lectures, 3h practical work.
2. Thoracic imaging – lung parenchyma, bronchial tree, heart.2h lecture, 3h practical work.
3. Thoracic imaging – clinical cases. Test – thoracic imaging. 1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
4. Abdominal imaging - indications, normal anatomy, views, position. Interpretation. Gastrointestinal tract. 1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
5. Abdominal imaging – urogenital system, lymph nodes, spleen.1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
6. Abdominal imaging – clinical cases. Test – abdominal imaging. KEGA presentations.1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
7. Appendicular skeleton – indications, normal anatomy, views, position.1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
8. Appendicular skeleton – most common diseases in small animal medicine. 2h lecture, 3h practical work.
9. Appendicular skeleton – most common diseases in equine medicine.1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
10. Appendicular skeleton – clinical cases. Test – appendicular skeleton. 1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
11. Skull imaging – indications, normal anatomy, views, position. 1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
12. Skull imaging – rare. 13. Skull imaging – clinical cases. Test – skull imaging. KEGA presentations.1h lecture, 1.5h practical work.
Requirements for awarding credit points
Successfully completed four tests and KEGA work.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
Clinical and Epidemiological Case Analysis (KEGA) – students should write radiograph report. Radiographs is issued by lecturer.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
Student skills are assessed in accordance with the procedures specified in the tasks of the practical work.
The study course tests are evaluated in accordance with the criteria of the 10 point system scale. At the end of semester students should pass exam. To get access to exam, all tests and KEGA work must be evaluated with a successful grade. Additional opportunity: students can get a cumulative exam if for the first time all tests is passed with grade above and tests must be written on a day scheduled by the lecturer. One test can be rewritten.
