Course abstract
Course of special pathology instructs pathological physiology and morphology of animal organs and systems at macroscopic and microscopic level. The first part of the course includes morphology and physiology of cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary and endocrine system pathology, their causes, pathogenesis, macro- and micro morphology, formulation of morphologic diagnoses.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
• Knowledge - Comprehension and ability to explain mechanisms of cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary and endocrine systems pathologic processes and their causes; ability to describe gross and microscopic appearance of tissue changes.
• Skills - Ability to recognize and describe tissue changes in gross specimens from necropsies and images of gross lesions; ability to formulate morphologic diagnosis based on lesion appearance; ability to recognize pathologic processes in gross and microscopic specimens. • Competence - Ability to apply knowledge and skills analysing pathologic cases using appropriate terminology, explaining pathogenesis of lesions, their causes and prognosis.
