Course abstract
The aim of the study course is to learn management and organizational issues of freight and passenger transportation both in the state level and international level, as well as in level of separate transport modes and enterprises, topics related to management and organization of transportation process in logistic systems, applying principles and elements of logistics in freight and passenger transportation.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledge. Acquires in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding in freight and passenger transportation management and organization in national and international scale as well as on logistics solutions in transportation and storage processes – tests 1-4.
Skills. Able independently use the theory and knowledge to realize transportation in local and international logistic chains – practical works.
Competences. Able critically analyze transport-related problems and justify the decisions made, as well as improve transport service organization providing efficient cargo and passenger transportation in modern logistics chains – practical works.

2. Transport organization and structure in Latvia. Legislation in the transport sector (1h lecture, 1h practical work).
3. Comparison of transport modes. Combining the modes of transport (1h lecture).
4. Multimodal transport. International transportation (1h lecture, 1h practical work).
5. Transport and environment (1h lecture).
6. Transportation costs (1h lecture, 1h practical work).
7. Modelling of transport processes (1h lecture).
8. Organization and management of passenger transport (1h lecture).
9. Transport services and their quality. Types of deliveries and technological schemes of transportation (1h lecture).
10. Information in transport processes (1h lecture).
11. Logistic aspects of packaging. Containerization (1h lecture).
12. Inventory in transport and logistics (1h lecture).
13. Company transport. Development and selection of cargo delivery systems (1h lecture, 2h practical work).
14. Logistics approach in passenger transport (1h lecture).
15. International transport (1h lecture). 16. Transport outsourcing (1h lecture).
Requirements for awarding credit points
