Course abstract
The students acquire the history, essence and structure of the science of psychology, psychological schools, research methods in psychology, the structure of a human CNS and its role for the functioning of psyche, the structure of psyche, psychic processes and conditions – feelings, perception, attention, memory, thinking and speech, imaginations. They perfect their knowledge of intelligence and its measuring, abilities and creativity, personality’s emotional, volition and motivation spheres, personality’s theories, temperament and character, I-conception and stress management.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
• Knowledge – insight into the main research and utilization spheres of modern psychology; basic notions and terms of general psychology; basic principles and main regularities of general psychology; trends and schools of classical and modern psychology; students’ own psychic resources.
• Skills – application of acquired psychological knowledge for the professional activities, dealing with students’ individual problems; working in a team; differentiation between the psychological and non-psychological texts; independent choice and use of literature, necessary for the further studies of psychology. • Competence – ability to substantiate scientifically one’s own viewpoint, analyzing psychological factors, work critically with literature, to integrate psychological conclusions into one’s professional activities and self-development. The ability to use knowledge for the pedagogical practice and the development of a Bachelor’s Paper.
