Course abstract
The course of study Applied Vocational education contributes to improvement and evaluation of students’ knowledge and skills of the key concepts of vocational education, vocational training regulating documents, levels of professional education and qualification levels, professional training content, the national standards of vocational training, profession standard, principles of creating professional education programs using an interdisciplinary approach, modern technologies and promoting students' competitiveness.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
knowledge - and understanding of the basic concepts of vocational education, the vocational training regulating documents, levels of professional education and qualification levels, principles of creating professional education programs using modern technologies - practical work;
skills - to analyze, to compare and to evaluate the key concepts of vocational education; know how to theoretically evaluate different professional documents on education, curriculum and learning environment, ability to use a variety of training and educational resources, including information technology resources in preparing presentations - an independent work; competence - able to assess the development of vocational training system trends in Latvian and in Europe, able to integrate the knowledge gained in lessons; able to speak in front of an audience and do the presentation - an independent work.

1 Documents regulating vocational education.
2 Workshop on Basic Education Documents.
3 The process of vocational education content reform, its main directions in the aspect of sustainable education development.
4 Peculiarities of Vocational Education, Its Social Functions at the City, Region, Region, National Level.
The role of vocational education in the development of a competitive and dynamic knowledge-based society.
6 Professional standards. Comparability of qualifications and their recognition in the European Union.
7 Vocational education program, steps of its creation. Seminar on the development of occupational standards.
8 Evaluation of Vocational Education Content. Program evaluation criteria and methodologies.
9 European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and Deming Cycle.
10 Motivation strategies, models and methods for the acquisition of a profession.
11 Diverse learning styles: comparison, advantages and disadvantages in vocational education.
12 A student's motivation and a competitive personality environment in the labor market.
13 Use of modern technologies to provide an effective learning environment.
14 Problems of learning methods, learning process and learning outcomes assessment. 15 Lifelong Learning Model Approaches. Developing a participant-based and participatory approach.
Requirements for awarding credit points
80% lecture attendance, successful evaluation of the independent works and practical works.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
Independent work - the terms of vocational education are found and chosen, explanation is given.
Independent work - a report on some of the basic documents of vocational education (volume 10 pages - 15 pages, submitted in electronic form). Independent work - presentation of documents regulating vocational education.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
Independent works have been successfully completed and sent in due time. Successfully completed work on the terms of vocational education (references added, references used - at least 10 sources).
In accordance with the requirements, a written report on some of the basic documents of vocational education (volume 10 pages - p. 15, submitted electronically) is prepared, properly formatted and submitted before the presentation.
Presentation prepared and delivered as required. The test mark is the arithmetic mean between the individual works and the presentation.
