| Course abstract | |
| Theorethical knowledges of forestry is applied in the planing of silvicultural activities performance and outcomes evaluation. Methods of cleaning of the clearcut areas. Evaluation and maintaining of the forest undergrowth. Natural regeneration of deciduous and coniferous trees in clearcut areas. Agrotechnical and young growth improwement. Estimation of number of retaining trees, marking and measuring of trees selected for felling. Evaluation of performed improvement cuts. Pruning of growing trees. Planing of the main use of forest: clearcuts, gradual- and selective cuts. | |
| Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
| Strengthen knowledge of the requirements of the regulatory documents regulating forest management and economic activities. Develop skills to prepare and use forest management plans using knowledge acquired from the theoretical study course and look at specific forest management options from different aspects.
As a result, competence arises for the planning of sufficiently justified and alternative forestry measures, both theoretical and practical, for the planning and management of forest-related activities, as well as for the quality control of the performance of works - independent work in consultation with the teacher. informed decisions in silvicultural activities planing, to evaluate and justify the impact of every silvicultural measure on forest growth and establishment of high productive tree stands in the age of main use of forest. |

| Requirements for awarding credit points | |
| Participate in all days of practice and perform the tasks. Learning the practical skills and practice programme in the forest.
Duly completed and at the end of practice, a journal of practice works has been submitted to the practice manager and defended. |

| Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work | |
| Students shall perform the assigned job tasks in the journal independently in groups and according to the timeline and practical work materials previously given. Unclear issues are discussed with the instructor within the group. | |
| Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
| The practical work journal must be filled in according to the rules. In the defence of practice, it must be possible to justify made decisions, calculation procedures and results obtained. | |
