Course abstract
To ensure the rhythmic work of road transport within the subject, the basic principles of design, construction and maintenance of forest roads are embraced. Knowledge is provided on the technological equipment, operational performance and working organisation of the vehicle composition of different types of timber.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
• knowledge of the importance of forest roads network in forest management, of forest infrastructure design, construction and maintenance, of the technological equipment for timber transport vehicles and of the forms of timber transport work organization;
• skills to apply acquired knowledge in the quality assessment of new infrastructure and road-building projects, for the choices of the appropriate timber transport vehicles and timber transport work organization forms; • competence to make well-grounded decision on the most efficient timber transport vehicles and forms of timber transport work organization under the specific production conditions, as well as on the necessity for design and construction of new infrastructure objects.

Requirements for awarding credit points
Must successfully have the two tests written, the score rating, the average check mark. Improvement of final assessment by rewriting some of the test.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
Study of design and construction rules for forest infrastructure facilities (roads). Studies of regulatory enactments regulating round timber transport.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
Students' knowledge is evaluated in two tests:
•test 1 – design, construction and maintenance of forest roads; •test 2 – Round wood trucks and transportation.
