Course abstract | |
Students learn objects modelling principles of complex shapes. Learn conceptual design of product in a 3D environment and visualization capabilities. Developing technical documentation (drawings, specifications, test results) of project. Knows possibilities of 3D model strength simulation. Practically works with a specialized CAD system SolidWorks. Gains insight 3D printing technologies. | |
Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
• Knowledge – students understand modelling principles of components of complex surfaces, and assembly digital prototypes. Knows how to design plastic parts. Able to perform graphical analysis and presentation of objects (sketching ideas, performing drawings and 3D visualization of objects). Knowledge is appreciated in tests and laboratory works.
• Skills - can create models of products, perform drawings of parts and assemblies in accordance with the requirements of LVS. Is able to make motion analyse of the mechanisms and the strength analyse of the components. Can visualize product, collections or series in form of drawings and 3D prototypes. Use advanced design technologies – for general purpose and specialized automated design systems. Skills are appreciated in tests and laboratory works. • Competence – ability to apply professional knowledge and skills in practical work and studies to develop different design projects. Able to analyse the results of product design, as well as to make necessary adjustments. Competence is appreciated in tests and laboratory works. |

Full time intramural studies:
1. Design of a product (part) and development of a drawing. - 4h 2. Modeling with Surface tools. - 4h 3. Object modeling using profiles (Weldment module). Drawing and Cut list development. - 4h 4. Test - modeling of parts and development of the drawing. - 2h 5. Modeling of a product from several components (Assembly). Creating screw connections. Usage of fasteners. Creation of an assembly drawing and bill of materials. - 6h 6. Creating realistic images - rendering. - 4h 7. Strength simulation of components and development of test protocol. - 4h 8. Prototyping with a 3D printer. - 2h 9. Test - strength simulation. - 2h Part time extramural studies: All topics specified for full time studies are accomplished, but the number of contact hours is one half of the number specified in the calendar |

Passing the independent assignments during the semester and receiving a successful grade for them will result in a pass. | |

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
The results are assessed according to the number of independent tasks submitted, the number of errors (up to 4 points), and their degree of importance (up to 4 points). The student's attitude towards the study course is also assessed, consisting of timeliness, communication and diligence (up to 2 points). | |
