Course abstract
The aim of the studying course is to get knowledge about computer aided design and possibilities to use CAD software to solve engineering problems and process automatization. Students learn the rules of design and automatic creation of drawings in CAD software SolidWorks.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledge – Students understand the principles of modelling and are familiar with methods of digital prototype design of parts and assemblies with several features and standard mates. They know the possibilities of automatic creation of parts and assemblies drawings. Knowledge is appreciated in course work.
Skills – Students know to design parts with several features, create automatic views and sections and perform drawings according LVS and ISO standards. Skills are appreciated in course work.
Competence – ability to apply professional knowledge and skills in practical work and studies to solve different engineering problems. Competence is appreciated in course work.
Course Content(Calendar)
1. Designing machine/equipment parts in SolidWorks software.
2. Creation of machine/equipment assembly or its subassembly.
3. Shaft drawing.
4. Drawing of V-belt pulley.
5. Sheet metal part drawing.
6. Assembly drawing of frame. Bill of materials.
7. Assembly drawing of frame. Bill of materials.
8. Assembly drawing of machine/equipment. Bill of materials.
9. Assembly drawing of machine/equipment. Bill of materials.
10. Presentation of course work.
Requirements for awarding credit points
Students receive a final mark if they have successfully completed and presented course work. Presentation includes short oral report of course work as well as answers to the theoretical questions.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
During the independent work, students must develop 3D digital prototypes and drawings of the equipment (with a drive mechanism) indicated by the lecturer. Consultations are organized for students on the topics indicated in the course content.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
A student will get a successful mark on the course work if it is completed, properly designed and student is able to answer at least 50% of the questions. The student receives higher mark if the course work capacity and complexity exceeds course requirements.
