Course abstract
Skills of scientific activities and/or the abilities of pedagogical work, as well as presentation skills are improved.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Students acquire knowledge about the activities of scientific institutions and the possibilities of project submission and implementation. They improve their skills in the design of experiments, in carrying out the observations, and in the work with scientific equipment. Students are able to independently perform scientific work and prepare presentations about the results of investigations as well as educational lectures either within the framework of study courses or for other audiences.
Course Content(Calendar)
1. Characterisation of the research practice site. The already completed projects in the scientific institution, and those presently being implemented.
2. The conduct of the investigations/observations; methods of data processing.
3. Description of activities: participation in the establishment of investigations, carrying out of observations, data collection, etc., and/or the development of pedagogical skills – preparation of methodological materials, and presentation of lectures, practical exercises and seminars.
4. Critical evaluation of personal knowledge, skills and competences, the evaluation of the progress obtained during practice, and definition of directions that require further development.
Requirements for awarding credit points
A test without a grade. The report on the practice, which includes all parts set in the plan, is submitted and defended.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
The independent work during the research practice according to the plan of the practice.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
A properly formatted report on the completed practice is submitted: the scientific institution, the establishment of experiments, and the methods of data collection are described. Personal knowledge, skills and competences are critically evaluated, and the directions requiring further development are defined.
