Course abstract
The course of physics deals with the basic laws that are the basis for understanding all the problems of natural and engineering sciences. The course consists of lectures, practical work, laboratory and independent work. In lectures - acquisition of physics theory issues using appropriate mathematical apparatus. In practical work - acquisition of task solving methods and skills. In laboratory works - acquisition of skills of experimental work and basics of processing results.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
After completing the course, students will have:
1) knowledge of the regularities considered in the course of physics and critical understanding of their applicability to describe real processes considered in their specialty (2 tests);
2) skills to perform measurements of physical quantities and perform calculations in the research of their field, to summarize and analytically describe the results (8 laboratory works, their calculations);
3) competence to evaluate the results of measurements and calculations, to look for solutions to problems (defense of 8 laboratory works).

Requirements for awarding credit points
Passed the exam. All tests (3 theoretical tests and 3 tasks) and laboratory work must be taken into account.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
Preparation for lectures and tests according to the program, reading of literature, independent problem solving, calculations and analysis of laboratory works.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
A student can take the exam if he / she collects at least 50% of the assessment points in tests (3 theory tests and 3 tasks) and laboratory works (each is assessed with 0-10 points).
