Course abstract
Students acquires an in-depth understanding of modern glass constructions, technical capabilities, architectural requirements and development trends.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledge: about modern glass constructions (tests in auditorium),
Skills: oriantation in modern glass constructions (tests in auditorium),
Competence: be able to relevant glass construction systems in building bondary parts (tests in auditorium), Tests in auditorium.

1.Study course and its studies. Modern glass construction photos.
2.First test: Modern glass construction types, their application in construction.
3.Type of glass fixing, advantages and disadvantages.
4.Technical properties of modern glass constructions.
5.Glass and glass construction static calculation.
6.Review of existing legislation on glass construction in Latvia and the European Union.
7.Second test: Modern glass constructions, requirements, legislation.
8.Large volume of glass facades. “Intelligent glass facades”.
9.Full glass constructions, types, application, design.
10.Point-to-point fastening, principle, application.
11.New building appoitment.
12.Glass construction and specification analysis.
13.General tendencies of glass architecture development.
14.Biggest glass construction buildings in Latvia, European, World.
15.Third test: Modern glass constructions. 16.Compilation and evaluation.
Requirements for awarding credit points
Three tests must be succesfully passed.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
Get ready for tests in auditorium. 1.test: various question of first two lections where answers are in text and sketches. 2.test: various question about from lection third to lection sixth, where answer are in text and sketches. 3.test: various question about from lection seventh to lection fourteen, where answers are in text and sketches.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
Tests must be succesfully passed.
