| Course abstract | |
| Landscape analysis as a part of preparation before Project. Methodology of landscape analyzing, use of appropriative method in analyzing of specific type of landscape. Landscape analysis by aim, function, structure, scale, features etc. In study course are included topics about climate changes in rural areas. | |
| Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
| After completing the course student will have:
• knowledge of landscape analysis stages and methods; knowledge of distinguish approaches in landscape analysis of different landscape types; knowledge of terminology used in landscape architecture; • skills to investigate and evaluate a research area by using landscape analysis methods; skills to present obtained results and main conclusions from the study; • competence to carry out a study and evaluation of definite area; competence to work according to the Latvia legislative documentation. |

| 1 Stages and types of landscape analysis, depending on the type of analyzed landscape. Climate change features in the landscape, their identification approaches.
2 Practical work: territorial survey on place, getting acquainted with existing material, data. 3 Landscape analysis by scale. Landscape analysis by purpose. 4 Landscape analysis by function. Landscape spatial analysis. 5 Tree and shrub species analysis, historical change in species composition studies. 6 "Heat island" formation, CO2 emission source identification and impact study. 7 Landscape analysis by structure. 8 Practical work development, use of previously learned landscape analyzes type at work. 9 The methods used landscape analysis. 10 Questionnaires. Preparation of the questionnaire. 11 Questionnaires on site. 12 Presentation of survey results and key findings. 13 Photography method. Use of photography method in analyzing the area. 14 Flood analysis. Territory over wetting detection. 15 Practical work development and literature studies. 16 Presentation and defence of practical work – results of given area analysis and key findings. |
