Course abstract

The course deals with following topics: Baltic watershape – water resources, watershed characteristics. Hydrology and watershape elements – atmospheric water, surface water and ground water. Water and human impacts. Sustainability principles in water management. Agricultural water use and management. Urban water use and management. Industrial water use and management. Recipient, coast and sea water management. River basin management.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

The course develops specialized knowledge and understanding about sustainable development in the field of water management. 2. The course enables students with an ability to find sustainable solutions and best methods for environmental engineering, pollution control, and water management; 3. The course elaborates competence to use knowledge, that students can then bring to elaborate their MSc works and research approaches on relevant issues of environmental science using basic principles of sustainable development.
