Course abstract

The students will obtain increased knowledge about environment as important factor in sustainable development of the society, the understanding in the main goals of environmental policy, and the insight in the principles and instruments used for the implementation process. Theoretical aspects of environmental policy gained in the lectures and practical works must provide skills to evaluate the consequences of changes in natural and social economical environment, and ability to adopt adequate decisions and search for alternative solutions.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

The study course promotes the development of critical and academic thinking. Upon completion of the course students will acquire: 1. Increased knowledge and understanding of key contemporary environmental issues from the perspective of environmental policy and standards and regulations concerning the quality of environment (water, air, soil). 2. Skills to identify and understand in the integrated way some of the regional and world’s most pressing environmental issues in all their complexity. 3. Competence to evaluate independently the consequences of implementation of different environmental and socio economical activities in local and national levels.
