Course abstract

The aim of studying Public Administration is to provide the students with the knowledge about public administration concepts, theories and examples of best practices both in Latvia and abroad. The relationships of politics, executive power and civil society, the structure, functions and operations inside public administration and its modernization are included in the course as main topics. The envisaged issues are supplemented by the analysis of current laws and regulations.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Study course provides knowledge about basic principles of public administration, its structure and main operations, as well as public administration modernization trends both Latvia and abroad;
• develops skills to analyze public administration specific issues in general context;
• during the study course students develop competence to take into consideration general rules and interactions of public administration system, when they fulfil specific tasks and assignments.
