Course abstract

During study course students acquire specific terminology of the respective professional academic field. The aim of study course is to prepare a specialist, able to work with the actual documentation of the respective field and to communicate with the colleagues and the partners outside Latvia. The classes are implemented as seminars, which participants actively take part.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge: wide knowledge and comprehension of terminology, used in foreign languages in student’s respective field, ability to use technical documentation in several languages, ability to understand and use content of the text and use it for the research. Ability to perceive foreign language text in combination with the figures.
• Skills: to combine and use knowledge of terminology in own research field, skills to use foreign language text to organize own research and in further work as an engineer.
• Competence: student is able to work independently with technical texts in combination with the figures in English, German and French languages. Student is able to use text, written in different languages, in the situation analysis part of the Master thesis.
