Course abstract

The concept of region. Different types and theories of regional policy. Research methods of regions. Models and processes of the EU regionalization. Regional differences in Latvia. Evolution of regional policy. Regional development policies in foreign countries. Regional diagnostics, forecasts, strategic planning. Regional policy influence on regional development. Regional policy in Latvia.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge: the essence of regions and regional policy impact on the development of the EU territory. Skills: to analyse regional policies and regional development planning process. Competences: ability to analyse regional policy instruments and organise the territorial development planning process.
