Course abstract

Increment Science comprises the extent, peculiarities, the meaning, kinds, the structure and dynamics of the forest increment and its determinative causes. This study describes and analyses the classification of the forest increment and its evaluation methods, possibilities of development, precision of different methods and its practical usefulness to solve ecological and commercial problems.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Students of master studies obtain a thorough knowledge of the contents of the forest growth, diversity, ecological and forestry importance, methods and opportunities to use the forest growth as a criterion for forest productivity and environmental factors influence determination. Masters learning skills to choose the most appropriate method for the growth evaluation and use it for specific tasks. After learning course masters are competent to analyze the wood resource retrospective and future developments and to assess the influence of various environmental effects.
