Course abstract

Aim of the study course is improvement of students' understanding about the role of nutrition in physical and mental performance. Objectives: deepen understanding about energetic processes during physical performance and the role of macro- and micro- nutrients; provide information about nutrition in different kind of sports; develop skills to evaluate eating habits and qualitative content of daily menus; develop competences to work out guidelines for athletes accordingly to kind of sport, training period and individual peculiarities of athletes and to carry out research in sports nutrition.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After mastering the study course, students will have
• knowledge about nutrition of adults and adolescents in different kind of amateur and professional sport,
• skills to evaluate and assess eating habits and daily menu, to advice people involved in sports about nutrition, menu and nutrition supplements,
• and competence to carry out research in sports nutrition.
