Course abstract

Studying the course, students acquire the mathematical knowledge and skills needed for the further study of special subjects. The first part of course includes linear algebra, vector algebra, analytical geometry, limit of function and derivative of functions of one and two variables.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge of elements of linear algebra, vector algebra, analytic geometry, limit of function, derivative of function of one and two variables.
• Skills calculate the determinant, and matrix, find the solution of a system of linear equations, solve problems using vectors, recognise and use the standard equation of a straight line, recognize and interpret the equations of an ellipse, hyperbola, parabola, circle, calculate the limits of the functions, use derive the functions of one variables and two variables, use the derived function to solve different problems, use an appropriate software “MathCad” to evaluate stated above problems
• Competence: of mathematical thinking, of handle symbols and formal mathematics language, of mathematical problem formulating and solving, of reasoning, of modeling( ability analyze and build mathematical models concerning other area), of aids and tools (ability to make use of and relate to the aids and tools of mathematics.
