Course abstract

Painting I promotes students' understanding and knowledge of colour perception, the importance of tonality, basic principles of colour composition and their usage in painting genres, styles, techniques and methods, develops a sense of color and shape, creative and imaginative thinking; establishes and develops painting, carry into creative practice with color, texture, form and multiforms of materiality.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge: obtained theoretical knowledge and understanding of the basic principles and concepts perception of colour, meaning of colours, tonality; colour, painting concepts, styles, technique, genres; size, shape and colour reproductions, interrelationships and their use.
• Skills: developed creative and independent skills of work of color, shape variations and expressions of the plane and volume. Implemented independently done creative and practical works (sketches, work sheets, still life, composition of colours, a nature settings, copy, collage, three-dimensional objects, etc.).
• Competence: able to independently use the knowledge and skills for the development and use of practical works such as teaching materials and visual aids, able to think and act creatively and independently in working out composition of colour, painting works, analyze and evaluate the quality of work and argued to judge, to hear and evaluate each other and respect each opinion, able to use ICT knowledge.
