Course abstract

Part II of the study course provides a deeper insight into the techniques of graphic art drawing and the types of sculpture, into the creative works of foreign and Latvian graphic artists and sculptors. The practical sessions form the understanding of and develop the skills for the use of the terms of artistic language for the creative works.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge - of the techniques of graphic art drawing — drawing (graphite, coal, ink) and graphic arts (letterpress printing, gravure printing, plain printing etc.); knowledge of monumental sculpture, easel sculpture, fine plastic arts.
• Skills – to evaluate and analyze work of art according to the set criteria, to apply the basic principles of design, the fundamentals of color theory, the decorative and functional aspects of materials, different techniques of fine art for the development of creative works.
• Competence – ability to understand the types, genres and techniques of fine art and the materials to be used. The ability to prepare the methodological visual aids and theoretical materials on different themes of fine art, necessary for the classes of Visual Art.
