Course abstract

The course of study is studied ethnography and applied arts (1 CP): Applied Arts in Latvian industry. Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum. Latvian regions ethnographic folk costumes. Typical Latvian ethnographic items and characters. Anniversary of Latvian folk traditions. Song festival phenomenon in the Baltic states. The course is studied Art Pedagogy (1 CP): the essence of art pedagogy, the importance of the methods and forms of education, that requires an understanding of the role of the development of personality.

Learning outcomes and their assessment


Knowledge - understanding of the Latvian nation's spiritual and material values; ethnographic relationship with contemporary art, folk art treasures Latvian Latvian and European context. Understanding the nature of art pedagogy, the structure, the role of the development of personality.
Skills - to analyze, compare, explain and evaluate the similarities and differences in Latvian regions, able to apply Latvian ethnographic and folk art in the absorptive capacity of the household and the household, to be able to develop a methodical visual materials to teach school, be able to use the acquired expertise in developing IT independent work, having an appreciation of art and ethnography role of the intellectually rich, creative, harmonious and competitive personality.
Competence - the ability to define and explain the ethnography and pedagogy of art related terms, analyze and argue the themes of art, to provide clear and sound presentation, independent study and develop teaching materials
