Course abstract

Practice gives an opportunity to strengthen the acquired theoretical knowledge practically. Visiting a farms, study farms, scientific institutions and laboratories, agricultural production and processing companies.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• knowledge of technological processes, plant assortment and cultivars, agrotechnical properties, farm management and principles of organization of agricultural practise, keeping balance between production`s modernization and requirements of environmental protection;
• skills to apply in practice as well as to analyze and to evaluate morphological features of species, to identify taxa in natural and artificial habitats, to identify and record the main crops and weeds in the field conditions. To evaluate technologies used in crop production, horticulture and animal husbandry, as well as to analyze the work of farms and agricultural research institutions;
• competence to practice the acquired theoretical knowledge; to make the basic practical work in agriculture.

Course Content(Calendar)

The practice consists of several parts of theoretical courses. Training is divided into three weeks.
1st week.
Zoology - 1 day, Botany - 2 days, Agricultural mechanization - 1 day, Agroecology and environmental protection - 1 day.
2nd week.
Animal physiology - 1 day, plant physiology - 1 day, microbiology - 1 day, introduction to animal husbandry - 1 day, introduction to horticulture - 1 day, introduction to crop production - 1 day.
3rd week.
Field trips to the agricultural organisations and farms with specialization in crop production, horticulture and livestock farming will be organizated.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Practice will be accepted by completing of all practical and laboratory works. Final report should be prepared and presented. Assessment: Test (pass / fail).

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Students independently carry out the tasks set by the lecturer / practice coordinator. Final report should be submitted on e-studies, but a hard copy - to the practice supervisor.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Practice assessment consists of successful assessment of all parts of practice and submission and presentation of practice report.
