Course abstract

Students introduce with the main advances, problems and directions in the field of plant pathology. Acquire principles of systematic of different groups of pathogens (Protozoa, Chromista, Fungi, Virus, Monera) and its biological properties. Interactions between pathogens and plants. Concept of resistance.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Students obtain knowledge about new tendencies in the systematic of plant pathogens, understand association between systematic and pathogens biological properties. Realize concept and mechanisms of resistance and principle - gene for gene.
Are able to diagnostic pathogens according these morphological and biological properties. Have skills to analyze interactions between plants, pathogens and environment. Are able to analyze and use scientific literature. Obtain skills of presentation's preparation and argumentation in the field of plant pathology and association between plant diseases and crop production.
Students are able to integrate knowledge in plant pathology and other branches of science and production in the field of crop production. Are competent to give practice advices in diagnostic and control of plant diseases, as well as to choose methods of investigations and are able to carry out research in plant pathology.
