Course abstract

Possibilities of using oil- plants in food, fodder, industry. The oil - plants grown in Latvia - rape, oil-flax, fibre - flax, their growing technology. Their gathering, seed storage and processing technologies. Economics of oil - plant production.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge - on utilisation of grain and oil plant seeds and their importance in economics, growing technologies and applied machinery, choice of technologies.
• Skills – to develop technological maps for farming of different intensity, substantiate the developed technological map.
• Competence – to evaluate the influence of fertilizers and chemicals on harvest and production economy, choose machinery and equipment for grain and oil plant harvesting, processing and storage.
