Course abstract

Students familiarize themselves with the history of computer network development, classification, addressing, standardization and acquire Network architectures of Open Systems Interconnection Model Physical and Data Link Layers.
Practical skills of small/home office computer networking and configuration using Microsoft client operating systems built in obtions are acquired by students during laboratory work.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

•knowledge about computer network development history, classification, computer networks’ standards, computer networks’ addressing, computer networks’ open system for basic collaboration model layers, computer network protocols, computer networks hardware and structured cable system components;
•skills in SOHO (small office/ home office) computer networks and internet network designing, creating, computer networks hardware configuration, computer networks’ work places configuration, structured cable system designing, assembling and testing;
•competence in working in groups or independently, information acquiring, presentation preparation and informative materials about computer network design, as well as in assuring others and proving your own opinion.
