Course abstract

Department of water management. Basics of water legislation. Hydrotechnical structures - structures under water pressure and mechanical force, water resource management facilities and structures which protect from the force and harm of water. Hydrological, filtration, gully, hydraulic calculations of constructions, wind, rain and erosion effects. Water basins, their parameters. Fishery ponds. Geosynthetics. Applied materials, justification for the choice. Construction work sequence, applied technologies. Hydroenergetics, power, equipment. Calculation for the amount of work. Cost estimate.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1. Knowledge about hydrotechnical structures, their classification, main calculation principle.
2. The ability to choose the correct hydrotechnical structure type, solve water treatment issues, make necessary construction calculations and choose the right type of construction.
3. Kompetence in construction and operation of structures. Hydrotechnical structure construction selection, work volume and estimate calculation. The ability to compile hydrotechnical structure construction projects.
