Course abstract

Study course discusses automatic control principles and objects in wood processing, computerized process control, automation economical assessment, automatic control systems (ACS) and their components ( transmitters, controllers, actuators, protection devices), modifications and control principles of electrical drives (ED) in wood processing, ED automatic control schemes of wood processing mechanisms (conveyers, circular saw machines, saw-frames, production lines, wood dyers), their composition, action and operation characteristics.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1) knowledge - in the field of automatic control systems operation in wood processing technologies and to solve the theoretical and practical tasks of ED protection and automation for wood processing technological units;
2) skills - to perform and to read the technological and principle schemes of automatic control, to choose automatic ED components, to perform calculations of their parameters, to identify and to avert failure in automatic ED operation;
3) competence - to select an appropriate control principle and control device for conformable technological unit of wood processing, to select an appropriate ED and control system components, as well as to evaluate an automatic ED operation quality.
