Course abstract
The goal of the study course is to associate theory with practice in tackling housing problems, to gain basic knowledge regarding the different ways for dealing with housing problems. The topics of the course are related to three major problem areas: housing theory, housing policy, the current situation in the area of housing and its development trends.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledge – master students obtain knowledge on various approaches for solving housing problems and the role of national and local governments in shaping and making housing policies and profound knowledge on the development trends in and the possibilities for the housing market in Latvia. They gain knowledge that provides a creative basis for solving housing issues in the context of sustainable development. Skills – master students can identify problems in the field of housing, find out topicalities concerning problem solutions for housing, and be competent in and find actual offers as well as related legal acts concerning housing problem solutions in the context of sustainable consumption. Competence – master students can integrate theory with practice for solving housing problems, independently formulate and critically analyse complicated situations in the field of housing provision, and integrate the theory on housing with the housing policy and analyse it critically.
