Course abstract

While working on the term papers the students acquire practical skills for the collection, compiling, grouping statistic information and consolidate the knowledge of processing statistic data in the framework of the chosen theme.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have: knowledge – about core of statistics as science, statistics management in Latvia and EU, forms of data collection and its processing methods, data presentation in tables and graphs; skills – independently acquire statistical data from data sources, data grouping, calculate various statistical indicators, represent them in tables and images, analyse results; competence – gain knowledge and practical skills of statistical observation, data grouping and calculation of statistical indicators. Practical skills enable to apply various statistical methods for analyses of social and economical processes.
