The study course gives an idea of science and scientific research work, the organization of science in Latvia. The course deals with the types and organization of students' scientific research work . Use of bibliography and information sources in scientific work. The stages of scientific research work and the conditions for choosing the topic, the methodology of research work development are considered. The course offers the most widely used methods of scientific research work and the conditions of their selection. Design and evaluation of research results.
• Knows science and scientific research work, organization of scientific work in Latvia, knowledge of the methodology of scientific research work development and presentation of research results. Knowledge should be assessed by analytical literature review
• Is able to organize and plan scientific research, apply research methods, design and evaluate research results. Skills should be assessed by analytical literature review
• Is able to evaluate the role of science and research and is able to create new approaches in the field of specialization in innovative development. Competences should be assessed by analytical literature review.
Full time studies:
1. Science and scientific research work 2 h.
2. Organization of science and training of researchers in Latvia - 2 h.
3. Types and organization of students' scientific work - 1 h.
4. Stages and topics of scientific research work - 1 h.
5. Practical work - Choice and formulation of the topic - 2 h.
6. Searching for scientific information and compiling a literature review. Databases - 4 h.
7. Practical work - Information search and studies. References, references, citation - 2 h.
Test 1: Organization of scientific work and stages of research work. Scientific information - 1 h.
8. Research work development methodology. The most widely used research methods in scientific research work - 4 h.
9. Prakt. work - Selection and application of research methods - 2 h.
10. Preparation of scientific research work program - 2 h.
11. Presentation of research results - 2 h.
12. Efficiency and evaluation of research work - 2 h.
13. Implementation of the results of scientific research work - 2 h.
Test 2: Research work methodology and design. Research efficiency - 1 h.
14. Presentation of the analytical literature review - 2 h.
Part-time studies:
All topics specified for full-time studies are implemented, but the number of contact hours is 1/2 of the specified number of hours
Test with a mark.
The test task consists of:
• 2 tests on theoretical issues
• develop practical work
• submit and present a report (analytical review) on the chosen topic, the course ends with a test.
Selection of special literature and studies, preparation for practical work:
- choice of topic (the student must get acquainted with the research topics of the department, choose the topic of interest and formulate it);
- literature studies (according to the chosen topic, sources of information must be sought and their bibliographic description must be compiled).
On the basis of the selected literature, a report should be prepared - an analytical review of the literature on the chosen research topic (pp. 7 - 10) and a presentation on it should be prepared.
The qualitative assessment of the test depends on the cumulative assessment of the semester, the percentage distribution of which is as follows:
• Test 1 - 20%
• Test 2 - 20%
• homework evaluation and presentation - 50%
• class attendance - 10%.
