Course abstract

Study course involves continuation of using compositional principles in landscape architecture. Use of compositional basic principles – colours, harmony and contrast, dominates, shapes, texture, interaction between elements - proportion and balance, scale, rhythm etc.- in dynamic modeling. Scenery assessment by using compositional principles. Aesthetics of natural elements. To acquire abilities of developing a high quality design.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have:
• theoretical knowledge of basic principles in composition, their mutual interactions, their usage possibilities;
• skills to use terminology from the theory of composition, to involve theory into practical work in landscape architecture;
• competence to detect and evaluate compositional interconnections – mutual balance of elements, accordance of colors and shapes etc. – in real landscape architectural designs.
