Arhi1017, History of Architecture and Garden Art I
The aim of the subject is to give knowledge about the Gothic and Renaissance development periods and styles of architecture and garden art, including the most notable objects of Europe, Asia, America and Latvia. A special attention is drawn to the medieval shaping of garden principle, structure and composition of the Renaissance gardens. There are studied the most outstanding Renaissance gardens of Italy, France, and Austria. The subject of the study process consists of lectures and independently prepared reports in workshops.
The outcome of the study course:
• knowledge about the most notable objects of architecture and garden art from the Gothic and Renaissance periods, their development and structure of them,
• skills to recognize styles of architecture and garden, style characteristics and composition of details in them,
• ability to characterize and evaluate objects of the Gothic architecture, Renaissance architecture and Renaissance garden components.
