Course abstract

The course provides a comprehensive overview of key personnel management functions, with practical examples of procedure implementation. It develops knowledge and skills in preparing application documents, participating in job interviews, establishing and maintaining employment relationships, and organizing work processes in accordance with the legal and regulatory acts of the Republic of Latvia and the general principles of personnel management.
The aim of the study course is to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of the basic principles of personnel management in order to develop their professional and personal competencies for entering the labour market.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, functions, and basic principles of staff policy, the strategic choices within the industry, and the stages of the recruitment process. (Individual task, group task, Test 1)
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the procedures for formalizing and maintaining employment relationships, as well as the relevant legal framework. (Test 2)

Part-time studies and part-time distance learning:
All topics specified for full-time studies are covered, but the number of contact hours is half of the number specified in the calendar.

Requirements for awarding credit points

A positive assessment (credit) can be obtained if lectures have been attended and the individual assignments, group work, and tests have been completed and positively evaluated.

The study process in part-time distance learning is organized in accordance with Order No. 2.4-8/54 of the Vice-Rector for Studies on distance learning procedures at LBTU. Study courses are scheduled for each semester according to the study plan. The students learn the topics included in the study course independently, using the materials created and placed by the lecturer in the e-studies (Moodle). Feedback on the learning of lecture and seminar topics in distance learning is organised in the form of self-assessment tests, discussion forums and individual tasks, as well as in face-to-face or online consultations, lectures and final examinations according to the timetable.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The assigned individual and group tasks, research assignments, or other types of tasks related to the topics covered in the classes have been completed, and a positive assessment (credit) has been obtained.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Individual assignments are assessed according to the quality requirements for completing the specific tasks.
A student can receive a positive assessment in the test if at least 50% of the questions are answered correctly.
