Course abstract

The aim of the study programme is to provide students with the skills to independently select literature sources appropriate for the topic of their bachelor’s thesis, to carry out purposeful literature studies, and to become familiar with the available literature in the chosen field of agricultural research. If the bachelor’s thesis involves practical research, the student prepares a full literature review, whereas if the thesis is based solely on literature studies, a partial literature review is prepared. In both cases, the student demonstrates the ability to compile a summary of the literature review and to format the list of references in accordance with the required standards, as well as to strengthen the public presentation skills acquired during the studies.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge of the scientific studies carried out and their results in relation to the subject of Bachelor's Thesis. Obtain an in-depth knowledge of the specific subject of Bachelor's Thesis.
Skills to select thematic literature, prepare a literature review, design it according to instructions. Draw up a literature list according to the bibliography rules. Publicly present a literature review.
Competence - the student is competent to gather and analyse the views of different scientists on the subject.
Evaluation: presentation of the literature review in the study direction group of students and scientists.

1. Selection of literature. 30 h.
2. Literature studies. 40 h.
3. Preparing a description of the literature. 80 h.
4. Drawing up a list of authorities used. 5 h
5. Prepare a presentation for an overview of the literature. 5 h.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Presentation of the literature review in the study direction group of students and scientists. The course is assessed with a pass/fail grade.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Selection and studies of scientific literature and other sources of scientific information, own-initiative work for preparing the review of literature. Preparing a presentation.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

A full study of literature using at least 30 sources of scientific literature for students whose Bachelor's Thesis is based on a practical study. A partial review of literature using at least 40 scientific literature sources for students whose Bachelor's Thesis is based only on literature studies.
The review of literature must be prepared, designed and presented in accordance with the theme of the Bachelor's Thesis and the rules for drawing up study works.
